These fights are just mismatches in the sense that, considering the pure techniques, pure styles, Muay Thai is superior to boxing, it's more effective. That said, I'd like to make a disclaimer. Of course I'm not the level of these guys, not near the level of a pro fighter, but the principle applies. I started in boxing and then moved to Muay Thai because here in Brazil it's far more easy to find places to practice Muay Thai than it is for boxing. Boxing is still the basis of my fighting style, but I have learned to deal with kicks. I don't fear them, I can block them, I can absorb them, I even throw some kicks, especially in the legs. I would say that the pure Muay Thai fighters have a really hard time dealing with me because of my boxing. They are not used to this style. Considering guys with the same time of training than me, I am better than most. Boxing is great. That's it.

I love what Japanese kickboxing has become as a result of this. Dutch style too! Years of fighting bring about an evolution. It's not about this style vs that, it's about perfecting fighting over time.

IMO, Wing Chun is not good in an open setting. I'd favour Wing Chun in an elevator setting. In a real fight, you really need to be multi-faceted and ready to use anything tactic.
